
Prockow Hat Trick Leads Rivermen Past Thunder

BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Thunder dropped their fourth straight contest as the Peoria Rivermen received a hat trick as part of a four-point night from Nick Prockow in a 5-1 win on Friday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The Rivermen collected a shorthanded goal with just 1:52 remaining before the first intermission on a Nick Prockow rebound tally with assists given to Parker Stanfield and Joe Schiller for the only first period score. Prockow converted a centering pass in the slot from Schiller also assisted by Matt Viola to score a power play goal with 13:33 remaining in the middle period for a 2-0 Rivermen advantage. Prockow drew the hats onto the ice from the visiting fans with another power play goal with 7:40 left before the second intermission on assists from Stanfield and Garrett Vermeersch followed by a power play goal by Alex Mentink helped by Vermeersch and Nick Wheeler with only four seconds showing for a 4-0 second intermission lead for the guests.
The Thunder found the back of the net for the first time early in the third period as Travis Granbois buried a centering pass from Sy Nutkevitch with 16:55 remaining. The Rivermen answered for a 5-1 lead on a Charlie Carkin goal from Taylor Larsen and Prockow with 7:09 remaining for the final score. The final minutes were marked by several skirmishes including words between the benches.
Eric Levine earned the win in goal with 27 saves while Max Strang made 36 stops in the loss. Peoria was 3-for-10 in power plays while the Thunder were unsuccessful in seven attempts.
The Thunder return to U.S. Cellular Coliseum for three games with the Mississippi Surge over the weekend of December 13, 14 and 15, but first travel to Mississippi to face the Surge this Friday before heading north to take on the Mississippi RiverKings on Saturday and Sunday.
