The Charlotte Knights beat the Gwinnett Braves 13-2 in game two of the home and home series at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, SC. The loss is the third in a row for Gwinnett (69-60) and ends a road trip in which the G-Braves went 2-and-4. It Was Over When: When Knights' catcher Jared Price hit a three run homer off of Gwinnett RHP Randall Delgado. It highlighted a five run second inning for Charlotte.
Braves Beat:
On the Mound: RHP Randall Delgado (2-1) started and earns his first Triple-A loss in his roughest Triple A outing of the season: 3.2 IP, 8K, 8R/ER, 4BB, 5K. LHP Ben Swaggerty replaced Delgado in the fourth inning. His line: 1.1 IP 4H, 2R/ER, 3K. RHP Jaye Chapman entered in the six: 1.0 IP, 3H, 2R/ER, 2BB, 1K. RHP Jairo Asencio sees his first action since August 9th. His line: 1.0 IP, 1H, 1R/ER, 3K. RHP J.J. Hoover closed out the game: 1.0 IP, 3K.
At the plate: 3B Diory Hernandez drove in the only runs for the Braves with a two run homer in the third. He was 1-for-3.
The Opposition:
On the Mound: RHP Dylan Axelrod (5-1) started for Charlotte and beats the Braves for the second time this season. His line: 6.2 IP, 3H, 2R/ER, 1BB, 8K. LHP Wes Whisler replaced Axelrod in the seventh: 1.1 IP, 1H, 1K. RHP Dan Remenowsky closed the game out: 1.0 IP, 2K.
At the Plate: Charlotte hit four homers in the game for the second straight day. RF Dayan Viciedo was 3-for-5 with two homers (19) and 3 RBI. 1B Jim Gallagher was 3-for-4 with 4 runs scored and a solo homer, his 7th of the season. 2B Eduardo Escobar was 4-for-5 with 2 RBI.
On Deck: The Gwinnett Braves and Charlotte Knights continue their four game-home and home series Monday night as the series moves to Coolray Field in Gwinnett County. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. RHP Julio Teheran (13-2, 2.14) will start for Gwinnett. LHP Doug Davis (2-3, 2.68) starts for the Knights. The game can be heard on the home of the G-Braves, WDUN 550 AM/102.9 FM with Tony Schiavone and Judd Hickinbotham calling the play by play. Air time set for 6:35 p.m.
