Charlotte Knights News Release

FORT MILL, S.C. - One day after hitting four home runs, the Charlotte Knights continued their offensive assault against the Gwinnett Braves 13-2 at Knights Stadium. The Knights powered their way to 13 runs off 16 hits.

Knights outfielder Dayan Viciedo led the way for the Knights hitting a solo home run in the first inning. He would later hit another home run, this one being a two-run shot in the fourth inning. Viciedo's two-home run game was the Knights second straight after Dallas McPherson hit two homers for Charlotte the previous day.

The Knights put the game out of reach in the second inning putting together a five-run inning highlighted by a three-run homer from catcher Jared Price. It was Price's first home run since being called up from Double-A Birmingham.

Charlotte first baseman Jim Gallagher had three hits including a solo home run and scored four runs in the game. Second baseman Eduardo Escobar had a four-hit game with a pair of RBI.

Knights starting pitcher Dylan Axelrod didn't need much help from his offense as he struck out eight in 6.2 innings to improve to 5-1 on the season. Pitchers Wes Whisler and Dan Remenowsky combined to pitch 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.

The Knights and Braves continue their series tomorrow in Gwinnett at 7:05 PM. LHP Doug Davis will start for Charlotte and Gwinnett will start RHP Julio Teheran.

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at for more information.
