SWB Yankees Game Suspended

August 21, 2011 - International League (IL1)
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees News Release

Rochester, NY - The game between the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees and the Rochester Red Wings on Sunday, August 21st has been suspended in the top of the third inning due to rain. The game will be played to its completion at PNC Field on Monday, August 22nd beginning at 5:35 PM. Following the completion of the suspended game, the Yankees and Red Wings will play Monday's regularly scheduled game which will now be a seven inning contest.

Heavy rains in Rochester forced the suspension of Sunday afternoon's game in the top of the third inning with the Yankees batting. Terry Tiffee led off the SWB third with a double to center field and had advanced to third with two down and Chris Dickerson at the plate when the umpires stopped the game and it was ultimately suspended.

Fans holding tickets for the August 22nd game at PNC Field will be able to watch both games at PNC Field with the completion of Sunday's suspended game and the regularly scheduled game on Monday night. Gates at PNC Field open Monday at 4:30 PM.

The pitching matchup for Monday at PNC Field will be right hander Freddy Garcia on a Major League rehab beginning the completion of the suspended game for the Yankees with left hander Jake Stevens continuing the suspended game for Rochester. The regularly scheduled game on Monday will feature the original scheduled starters for each team with lefty Manny Banuelos making the start for the Yankees and right hander Andy Baldwin starting for the Red Wings.

The Yankees begin an eight game home stand on Monday night with a four game series against Rochester. The Pawtucket Red Sox come to PNC Field on Friday to open the second half of the home stand with a four game series beginning on Friday.
