Knights Lose 11-10 Slugfest to 'Wings on Wednesday

(Fort Mill, SC) - The Rochester Red Wings put up a four-run ninth inning, scored a go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning, and went on to beat the Charlotte Knights 11-10 in game three of their four-game series from Knights Stadium on Wednesday.

Charlotte broke a 6-6 tie with a four-run seventh inning, but two innings later, the Red Wings came firing back against reliever Anthony Carter. Carter allowed a three-run home run to Chris Parmelee, which tied things at 10-10 in the ninth.

One inning later, Pedro Florimon delivered the game-winner - an RBI single off reliever Brian Bruney (0-3, 1.57), which put the 'Wings on top 11-10.

Rochester reliever Anthony Slama closed things out for Carlos Gutierez (2-1, 4.50) in the 10th and gave the 'Wings their second consecutive win over the Knights.

Parmelee, who homered in Tuesday's ballgame, finished Wednesday's contest 3-4 with a home run, two runs scored and five RBIs.

Offensively for the Knights, center fielder Jordan Danks went 2-5 with a run scored and three RBIs. DH Dan Johnson launched his 11th home run of the season and finished the game 2-3 with three runs scored, two RBIs and two walks. Justin Greene also homered for the Knights in the loss.

Chicago White Sox third baseman Brent Morel - a former Knight, began a Major League rehab assignment on Wednesday. Morel went 2-3 with a double and two runs scored. He played third base for five full innings, as he recovers from a lumbar back strain, which landed him on the disabled list on May 22 (retroactive to May 18).

Knights starter Charlie Shirek allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits over five innings and did not factor in the decision. Donnie Veal threw two scoreless innings out of the 'pen.

The two teams will conclude their four-game series from Knights Stadium on Thursday. RHP Matt Zaleski (1-2, 7.22) will get the nod for Charlotte, while the Red Wings will counter with LHP Matt Maloney (0-0, 6.43). Fans can enjoy $1 sodas and $1 beers on Thirsty Thursday, presented by Hickory Tavern. First pitch is 7:15 p.m. and gates are set to open at 6:00 p.m.
