LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. - The Gwinnett Braves saw their five-game winning streak snapped as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs won 6-3 on Wednesday night at Coolray Field. Dusty Hughes entered the game with the score tied 3-3 in the eighth, but ended up with the loss as the IronPigs scored three times in the frame. With the win, Lehigh Valley snapped a six-game losing streak.

John Suomi started the rally with a one-out double for Lehigh Valley, then scored two batters later on a single by Steve Susdorf. Derrick Mitchell added a sacrifice fly scoring Cody Overbeck, and Tug Hulett's RBI double scored Susdorf to raise the lead to 6-3. Hughes (L, 0-1) allowed all three runs as earned on three hits, walked one and struck out one over one inning of work.

Gwinnett starter Eric Junge went 7.0 innings in a no-decision, yielding three runs, two earned on six hits. He entered the bottom of the seventh in line for the loss after allowing two runs in the sixth, but Luis Durango singled and scored on a throwing error by IronPigs' shortstop Andres Blanco to tie the game at 3-3.

Mejia tied the score at 1-1 in the first inning with his double scoring Durango, then gave the G-Braves a temporary 2-1 lead in the third with an RBI single scoring Felix Pie. He reached for a third and final time on an infield single that helped set up Durango's tying run in the seventh. Durango went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, while Pie went 2-for-5 with a run scored.

Lehigh Valley starter Tom Cochran lasted just 3.0 innings, surrendering two runs on four hits. The left-hander was replaced by another southpaw, Jeremy Horst, who worked 3.0 scoreless innings. B.J. Rosenberg (W, 1-0), David Purcey (H, 4) and Michael Schwimer (S, 6) combined for an unearned run over the final 3.0 innings for the IronPigs.

Suomi, currently 6-for-10 in the series, went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. Domonic Brown went 3-for-5 with a solo home run off Junge in the sixth. Overbeck, Susdorf, Mitchell and Hulett all drove in runs for the IronPigs.
