The Tides jumped out to an early lead with a solo shot by Lew Ford (2) in the first inning and would threaten again with three hits but were held scoreless in the second inning by PawSox starter Justin Germano (5-3) who would get Xavier Avery to fly out to center field for the third out, stranding three on base. The PawSox put runners in scoring position in the second but the inning would end on a double play ball. Norfolk got on the board again with a homerun by Jai Miller (7) in the fourth inning but PawSox Mauro Gomez would lead off the with a double (13) off the wall and later score on Hassan's fly ball to right, giving them their first run of the night.
With no one out in the bottom of the sixth, Che-Hsuan Lin who singled to right, moved to second on a throwing error by Luis Exposito on a pickoff attempt. With a walk by Lars Anderson, Mauro Gomez tied the game at two with a ground- rule double (14) to left, scoring Che-Hsuan Lin. The PawSox would add one more with a sacrifice fly to center by Alex Hassan, scoring Lars Anderson and taking the lead 3-2. Gomez, Lin, and Kroeger finished with two hits and Hassan contributed two RBIs (23)in the game.
Starter Justin Germano (5-3 ) picks up the win with seven innings pitched and only allowing two runs on seven hits. Clayton Mortensen (3-2) would grab his second save of the season in an inning and one batter while striking out three. Tides starter Brad Bergesen (2-3) will take the loss after giving up three runs on seven hits in six innings of work. The PawSox (34-20) will face the Tides (21-31) on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. as they complete the four game series. Chris Tillman (3-7) will face Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-1).
