
Gustavo Molina Powers SWB Yankees Past Toledo 5-2

Rochester, NY - Gustavo Molina may not be known for his power, but he showed he has plenty as he crushed a solo home run snapping a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fourth leading Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (29-22) to a 5-2 victory over Toledo (24-29) on Wednesday night at Frontier Field.
The Mud Hens struck first in the top half of the second inning on a bases loaded fielders choice to shortstop off the bat of Audy Ciraco. Dellin Betances kept the damage minimal as he got Argenis Diaz to fly out to center and Justin Henry to ground out to short to end the inning. Brad Eldred extended the Toledo lead to 2-0 with an RBI double to left in the top half of the third.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre got both runs back in the bottom of the third inning when Matt Antonelli roped an RBI single to centerfield and Steve Pearce added an RBI double to left making it a 2-2 ballgame. Gustavo Molina then gave the Yankees a 3-2 lead with a solo blast over the left field wall in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Ronnier Mustelier continued to swing a hot bat with runners in scoring position. In the bottom of the third Mustelier sent a single right back up the middle allowing Matt Antonelli to score easily from third giving Scranton/Wilkes-Barre the 4-2 lead. The Yankees added another run when Jack Cust scored from third on a groundout to third off the bat of Brandon Laird, extending their lead to 5-2.
Dellin Betances earned the win for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, improving to 3-4 on the season. The right-hander threw six innings allowing two runs on four hits, while walking four and striking out four. Jacob Turner suffered the loss for the Mud Hens falling to 0-1 in just four starts. He allowed three runs on four hits in five innings, while striking out three and walking five. Ryota Igarashi earned his first save of the season for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He allowed just one hit in one inning and struck out two.
The Yankees and Red Wings wrap up the four game series on Thursday afternoon as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre looks for its first four game sweep of the season. First pitch is slated for 12:05 PM with right hander D.J. Mitchell (4-1, 4.40) getting the start for the Yankees and right hander Brooks Brown (1-1, 5.46) getting the nod for Toledo.
