
Knights Fall to RailRiders 14-5 on Tuesday

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped the opening game of a six-game series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders by a score of 14-5 on Tuesday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. Tuesday's matchup was the first between the two teams since 2019. That year, the Knights went 6-0 against the RailRiders.
Charlotte left fielder Víctor Reyes launched a two-run home run in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game, his seventh of the year. Reyes, 28, leads the team in the RBI category with 36 and is second with the seven home runs. In all, the Knights tallied 11 hits in the opener. Reyes, Lenyn Sosa, Nate Mondou and Zach Remillard all had two hits apiece to pace the Charlotte offense.
LHP Nate Fisher (3-4, 3.86) started for the Knights and was saddled with the loss after he allowed seven runs (four earned) over 4.2 innings pitched.
The RailRiders led the way with 14 runs on 15 hits in Tuesday's opener. The team combined to launch six home runs off Charlotte pitching, including two home runs each from Estevan Florial and Rodolfo Durán. Both Florial and Durán led the way with four RBI each.
Chicago White Sox RHP Liam Hendriks continued his rehab assignment and allowed one run in the eighth inning. Hendriks, who gave up a solo homer to Durán, threw 16 pitches on the evening (nine for strikes).
The Knights will continue the six-game series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees) on Wednesday night.
