Knights Drop Saturday's Game to Tides 8-2

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - The Charlotte Knights dropped game five of the six-game series against the Norfolk Tides by a score of 8-2 on Saturday night in front of a sell-out crowd of 10,282 fans at Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.

First baseman Zach Remillard launched his third home run of the season in the first inning, which tied the game at 1-1. The Knights scored just one more run along the way when third baseman Tim Beckham scored from third base on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning.

RHP Reynaldo López (0-6, 8.73) was saddled with the loss after he allowed five runs on five hits over 3.1 innings pitched. Norfolk catcher Brett Cumberland hit two home runs to lead the way. The win went to Norfolk LHP Kevin Smith (1-1, 3.86), who struck-out nine batters over five innings.

The two teams will conclude the six-game series from Truist Field on Saturday with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time radio broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com. The game will also be aired live on My 12 WMYT starting at 6:00 p.m.

Gates for Sunday's July 4th game, featuring the annual WBT SkyShow, will open at 4:30 p.m. The largest fireworks display in the Southeast will follow the conclusion of the game.
