Charlotte Knights News Release

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights couldn't break through against the Durham Bulls as they lost 6-2 at Knights Stadium. The Knights have now lost four straight, while Durham's magic number to clinch the I.L. South Division is at five.

Durham starting pitcher Richard De Los Santos was outstanding allowing just two runs off nine hits in 6.0 innings pitched. The Knights couldn't get much going offensively despite having 10 hits in the game. Alejandro De Aza did hit a 2-RBI double in the 6th inning that accounted for all the Knights scoring.

Durham made things look easy as they combined for 14 hits in the game, 10 of them coming off of Knights starter Jeff Marquez. For the second straight game Durham's Winston Abreu pitched a scoreless inning of relief to close things out.

Knights pitcher Erick Threets, on a major league rehab assignment from Chicago, did pitch one inning allowing one run off two hits to go along with one strikeout

The Knights and Bulls play the series finale tomorrow at 7:15 PM. The Bulls will start RHP Aneury Rodriguez (4-5, 3.81 ERA) and the Knights will counter with RHP Carlos Torres (9-7, 3.31 ERA).
