Knights Beat the WooSox 12-2 on Saturday Night

(WORCESTER, MA) -- Outfielder Logan Glass was promoted to the Charlotte Knights from Kannapolis (A) on Thursday and made his Triple-A debut in a pinch-hitting role that night. On Saturday, he connected on his first career Triple-a hit -- a three-run homer.

Glass launched a 419-foot home run to help the Charlotte Knights power past the Worcester Red Sox by a score of 12-2 in game five of the six-game series from Polar Park in Worcester, MA on Saturday night. The win was Charlotte's first of the series and largest offensive output since Sunday's 13-11 win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

Originally selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 22nd round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, Glass, 21, went 1-for-5 with the three run home run on Saturday in his first career Triple-A start. Glass, who never played about Single-A until Thursday, helped the Knights to a big win on Saturday night. His three-run blast also came during his team's seven-run ninth inning.

White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez continued his major league rehab assignment on Saturday after sitting out Friday night's game. Jimenez went. 1-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs on the evening. He singled home two runs during Charlotte's three-run sixth inning.

Left fielder Blake Rutherford also turned in a solid offensive performance on Saturday. Rutherford had a team-high three hits and also drove home three runs. Additionally, center fielder Mark Payton continued his hot hitting and reached base four times on the day (two hits and two walks). He upped his batting average to .278 on the season.

RHP J.B. Olson started for the Knights and did not allow a run in his only inning of work. For Olson, it was his fifth start in Charlotte's last 12 games played. LHP Hunter Schryver (2-0, 3.00) came on to pitch the second inning and allowed just one hit over a scoreless inning. He earned the win on Saturday. In all, the Knights used nine pitchers combined to hold the WooSox to just two runs on nine hits.

The Knights will conclude the six-game series in Worchester, MA against the Worcester Red Sox at Polar Park on Sunday afternoon with a 1:05 p.m. game.
