Westchester Knicks News Release
TARRYTOWN, NY - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, acquired Allen Crabbe off waivers as announced by the team Sunday afternoon. Subsequently, the team waived guard Alan Griffin.
Crabbe, 6'5 212, who last played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2020, has seen stints with the Atlanta Hawks (2019-20), Brooklyn Nets (2017-19), and Portland Trail Blazers (2013-17). Amid his run with the Blazers, the guard/forward split time with its then-NBA G League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede. Crabbe has accumulated NBA career averages of 9.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.3 blocks through 381 regular season games (113 starts). Through 17 playoff contests, all with Portland, Crabbe averaged 8.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
A former California-Berkeley standout, Crabbe averaged 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in three seasons with the Bears (2010-13) before early declaration for the 2013 NBA Draft. Crabbe would go on to be selected in the second round, 31st overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers before an ensuing trade to Portland that night. The LA native was named the 2011 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, a two-time All-Pac-12 First-Team honoree (2012, 2013) and 2013 Pac-12 Player of the Year.
Griffin, 6'5 190, averaged 7.2 points on 36.1-percent, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists in five regular season games with Westchester. Griffin was acquired during the Showcase Cup and 2021 NBA G League Winter Showcase.
