Kissel Loaned to AHL Bridgeport

Alaska Aces forward Dan Kissel has been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Tuesday. Kissel is currently tied for the ECHL lead in goal scoring, and will make his AHL debut this weekend when the Sound Tigers begin a five-game home stand on Friday. The Aces head on the road for the first time this weekend when they visit the Utah Grizzlies on Friday and Saturday night. Kissel, 24, is off to a terrific start this season for Alaska. With four goals in his first four games this season, the 5'9", 180 lbs. Crestwood, IL native is currently tied for the most goals in the ECHL along with Aces teammate Tyler Ruegsegger. Kissel was a mid-season acquisition who turned into a huge part of the Aces second-half run last year. Acquired from the Gwinnet Gladiators in February, Kissel averaged nearly a point per game with Alaska. He had 23 points (11g, 12a) in 27 games with the Aces, and combined totals of 46 points (20g, 26a) in 72 games overall last season. He remained a solid force in the playoffs with 11 points (3g, 8a) in 13 games, tying for third among all Aces post-season scorers. He started his pro career in strong fashion in 2010 as an amateur out of the University of Notre Dame. Fresh out of college, Kissel scored seven goals and added an assist in 11 games with the Bakersfield Condors. He went on to notch a pair of goals and pair of assists in nine playoff games. Prior to turning pro, Kissel played four collegiate seasons. In 140 games for the Fighting Irish, Kissel has 57 points (25g, 32a). In 2008, as a sophomore, Kissel helped the Irish to the NCAA National Championship game.

This is Kissel's first ever call up to the American Hockey League, and he is reunited with Aces forward Chris Langkow, who is also on loan, and former Aces Head Coach, Brent Thompson. Kissel is the second Aces player to get called up to the AHL this season, joining Langkow.

The 2011 Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces will head on the road for the first time this weekend when they visit the Utah Grizzlies on Friday and Saturday night.
