Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have signed unrestricted free agent forward Matt Moulson to a multi-year entry-level contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.
Moulson, 22, concluded his four-year career at Cornell University this past season by leading his club in goals (18) and points (38) for a third consecutive season. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario, also led his team with 11 power play goals and four game-winning goals while recording 14 penalty minutes in 35 games his senior year.
Originally selected by Pittsburgh in the ninth-round (263rd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Moulson averaged nearly 18 goals per season at Cornell University and finished with 71 goals, 33 power play goals, 138 points (71-67=138) and 106 penalty minutes in 134 career games.
Moulson is expected to first skate with the Kings at the annual "Pacific Division Shootout" - featuring prospects from the Kings, the Anaheim Ducks, the San Jose Sharks and the Phoenix Coyotes with the Kings serving as host at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. The four-team round-robin tournament takes place from September 8-12 and tickets are on sale now at the Toyota Sports Center box office.
