Kings Activate Martinez, Assign Him To Manchester

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have activated defensemen Alec Martinez off the injured reserve list and have assigned him to the Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Martinez, 22, has played in one game for the Kings this season - his NHL debut on Oct. 3. He suffered an ankle injury during practice two days later and was placed on the injured reserve list Oct. 29 (retroactive to Oct. 5).

The 6-foot-1, 208-pound native of Rochester Hills, Mich. recorded 23 points (8-1523) and 42 penalty minutes in 72 games with Manchester last season. He was tied for first among Monarchs rookie defensemen in goals, assists and points. His 23 points was also 14th among AHL blueliners.
