Abbotsford Heat News Release

ABBOTSFORD BC - The Hamilton Bulldogs split their two game trip in to BC on Wednesday night, hanging on to defeat the Abbotsford HEAT by a score of 2-1.

Former Vancouver Canucks goaltender Curtis Sanford continued his fine play on the season, turning aside all but one of the thirty three shots he faced on the evening.

JT Wyman and David Decharnais scored goals for the Bulldogs to stake the Hamilton visitors to a 2-0 lead early in the second period.

The Bulldogs then pulled right back and clogged up the neutral zone, making the path to the net a difficult one for the HEAT.

Before the end of the second period, the HEAT scored their only goal of the game as Delta's Keith Seabrook scored his 4th goal of the season on a HEAT power play.

Seabrook's goal tightened things up to 2-1 as the two teams headed towards the final period of play.

In the third period, the HEAT carried the play as they looked for the equalizer.

Midway through the stanza, Brad Cole was spotted by Garth Murray pinching in from the left point. Cole walked in and banged a one-time snap shot past Sanford, but the puck clanged off the left post and stayed out.

In the waning moments, a great passing play by Carsen Germyn led to a last second game saving stop by Sanford on HEAT scoring leader Jason Jaffray.

Sanford dtood tall, made the save and the horn sounded to give the Bulldogs their first win over the HEAT in three tries.

The HEAT will continue a four game home stand with a pair of games versus the New York Islanders affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The HEAT and Tigers will match up on Friday and Saturday at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre.
