Kings Acquire Heward From Washington

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have acquired defenseman Jamie Heward from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a conditional fifth-round draft choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Heward, 35, has played in 52 games this season with the Capitals and has 16 points (4-12=16) and 27 penalty minutes. In 362 career NHL regular season games with the Capitals, Columbus, the New York Islanders, Nashville and Toronto, the 6-foot-2, 198-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan, has recorded 114 points (36-78=114) and 197 penalty minutes.
