Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - The Kingfish could not have ended their four game home stand in a more perfect manner. Tonight, they capped it off with a 9-5 win over the Madison Mallards, claiming a series sweep in the process. They are on three game winning streak, having tallied 44 hits in three nights. The offense has recently claimed the title of best offense in the league, as they average an NWL high in runs per game. The Kingfish enter the All-Star Break in third place in the South Division, sitting just two games back of second.
It would be an understatement to say the bats have been active for King Elvis' crew. They have hit seven home runs in the past three games. Tonight, it was Buddy Reed's turn as he launched one in the second to put the Kingfish on the board. They garnered another run in the second which gave the squad the momentum for a big fourth inning.
Sticking with the recent theme, the Kingfish put up a huge inning during the course of the contest. They scored six runs in the fourth which began with C Michael Adkins reaching on a walk. CF Taylor Douglas subsequently singled as did 2B Chris Godinez, driving Adkins home. Godinez sits in second for batting average in the entire NWL, and is now on a seven game hitting streak. Stepping up next was LF Pat Porter who gave the crowd what they wanted with a three run home run to gain the 6-0 lead. The blast added to his NWL leading RBI total.
Starter Callahan Brown was on his game tonight for Kenosha. The righty dealt five shutout innings, striking out three in the process. Brown has been hot as of late, allowing no runners to score in his last eight innings. Tonight he earned his first win of the season and was named Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night, as he put on his best performance of the year.
Tomorrow starts the Northwoods League All-Star festivities. Kenosha's own Pat Porter and Rico Garcia were selected and will be participating at Kapco Park in Mequon, Wisconsin. The Kingfish return to Kenosha on Thursday, July 24th for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Wisconsin Rapids. The night will feature the Duffy Dyer Bobblehead giveaway.
The Kingfish office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. For more information on 7-game packs, season or group tickets, please log on to kingfishbaseball.com or call 262.653.0900.
