
Bullfrogs Erupt for Thirtheen, Defeat Rox 13-3

St. Cloud, Min. - The Bullfrogs offense jumped out to an early lead and hung on to win 13-3 and split the series with St. Cloud. The Bullfrogs snapped their five-game losing streak with the win and finish the road trip 1-3. Green Bay also finishes interleague play 4-4, splitting all four series against Northwoods League North Division teams this season.
Eleven batters came to the plate in the third inning, with the Bullfrogs scoring six runs on five hits. Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) doubled twice in the inning. The runs scored on an RBI walk to Brian Celsi (California), a two-RBI single from Ryan Howell (Chabot College), a balk to score Celsi, an RBI fielder's choice for Ivan Vieitez (Lenoir-Rhyne) and an RBI double from Jacobson.
The Rox battled back for three runs in the fourth, but the Bullfrogs batted around again in the fourth inning, sending ten batters to the plate. Five runs scored as de la Rosa (Lenoir-Rhyne) came around to score on an errant pickoff throw, Vieitez hit an RBI single, and Dean Long (Emporia State) emptied the bases with a three-run home run to give the Bullfrogs an 11-3 lead.
In the seventh inning, Howell hit his team-leading eighth home run to give the Bullfrogs a 13-3 lead.
Cody Pollack (Midland) earned the victory with two scoreless innings of relief. The loss was charged to Nick Jensen-Clagg (Kent State).
The Bullfrogs will have the next three days off for the Northwoods League all-star break. The Bullfrogs next game will be Thursday at Joannes Stadium against the Lacrosse Loggers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
