Kingfish Sweep MoonDogs with 9-6 Victory

Mankato, MN - The Kingfish split with the Moondogs at Simmons Field in June. They swept the Moondogs in Mankato tonight, with a final score of 9-6.

David Meade was the starting pitcher for the Kingfish. He pitched the first two innings and gave up three runs, only two of them earned. The Moondogs collected three hits off of Meade, in addition to tallying two walks and three strikeouts. Those two earned runs would be the only surrendered, as the rest were unearned. Mario Samuel earned the win for the Kingfish as he pitched the third inning, walking and striking out two with four unearned runs.

Adam Dressler pitched three full innings for the Kingfish and was fantastic with only one hit coming against him and three Moondogs falling victim via strikeouts. Garrett McKenzie continued his stretch of dominance with a scoreless frame. Of the last nine batters he has faced, he retired eight of them via strikeouts. J.D. Nielsen worked two scoreless frames to pick up his fourth save of the season.

John Brodner paced the Kingfish offense with a phenomenal 4-4 evening. Zack Weigel, Micah Coffey, T.J. Nichting, and Colin Dupree collected two base hits each. Eric Filia, Colin Dupree, and Alex Dunlap combined for six RBI. As a team, the Kingfish came up with fourteen hits to plate a grand total of nine runs en route to victory. The Kingfish, now boasting a record of 46-20, will meet the Bullfrogs at Simmons Field tomorrow night.
