Bullfrogs to Begin Road Series with Kingfish
August 3, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- Following a series split with the Kalamazoo Growlers, the Green Bay Bullfrogs continue their road trip tonight against the first-place Kenosha Kingfish at 7:05 p.m.
The Growlers scored first last night with an RBI single by Justin Fletcher in the bottom of the third inning, but Green Bay tied the game in the sixth when Jack Strunc reached on an error to score Danny Rosenbaum.
The Bullfrogs exploded for five runs on six hits in the seventh to grab ahold of the lead. Brian Celsi, Rosenbaum and Desi Ammons each had run-scoring singles, and Strunc knocked in two runs.
Kalamazoo responded with a pair of RBI hits by Jordan Stading and John Soteropulos in the bottom of the seventh.
Matthew De La Rosa earned his first win of the season, and Jake Stolley got the save for the Bullfrogs.
Kenosha comes into tonight's game with a 46-20 overall record, which is the best in the Northwoods League. The Bullfrogs' 38-28 overall record is good for third in the South Division.
The Bullfrogs will go up against Kingfish starter Rico Garcia, who has a 3-3 record and a 3.82 earned run average in eight starts. Garcia has yet to pitch against Green Bay and struck out 42 batters in 42 1/3 innings.
Robb Paller has increased his batting average to .348, which is third in the league. Strunc has really stepped up his game since shortstop Mikey Duarte left the team due to injury. Since July 19, he has recorded a hit in 10 of 11 games.
Following tonight's game, five Bullfrogs will be competing in the Major League Dreams Showcase on Tuesday, which will feature five Green Bay players.
The Bullfrogs will play at Kenosha on Wednesday and will play their final two regular season home games on Aug. 6-7 against the La Crosse Loggers before a two-game road series with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters to close out the season.
