Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - After a remarkable six game winning streak, the Kingfish did not let last night's loss deter them from their second half success. The Kingfish welcomed the La Crosse Loggers to Simmons Field and dealt them an 8-4 loss in the first of their two game series.
The Kingfish took advantage of Loggers starter Scott Burke as he began the night on shaky ground. The Kingfish wasted no time and right away in the first, Zach Ratcliff hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Buddy Reed for the first run of the night. They came through again in the second with Taylor Douglas reaching on a fielder's choice and a double from C.J Saylor. Buddy Reed then hit a two-out double to push both runners across.
The trend continued with three additional runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to total eight on the night. Seven of the nine Kingfish batters scored in tonight's game with Buddy Reed (3-5, R, 2 RBI) leading the way. Zach Ratcliff also played well, scoring twice and driving in another two. Helping the matter was patience at the plate, as 11 walks were handed to the Kingfish in the contest.
The last time Kenosha starter Callahan Brown pitched, he was deemed the Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night and was just as impressive this evening. Brown went five innings, giving up only two runs and striking out five. Relievers E.J. Trapino and Coley Thompkins did their part, only allowing two runs in four innings of work.
Tomorrow evening is the final contest of the series, with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. The night will be Princess and Superhero Night in which kids who dress up will receive a free hot dog and soda.
The Kingfish office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. For more information on 7-game packs, season or group tickets, please log on to kingfishbaseball.com or call 262.653.0900.
