Kalamazoo Growlers News Release

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.- A rained out batting practice was not enough to slow the Growlers bats, as they tagged the Rafters for six runs on ten hits to complete the series sweep at historic Witter Field. Kalamazoo did not need much offense as Ryan Colegate (Ohio Dominican) picked up his second win of the summer. The right-hander threw 5 2/3 innings of stellar baseball allowing one run on three hits. Devin Bronson (Eastern Michigan) collected his first save of the season while striking out five Rafters in a 3 1/3 innings effort.

Karl Sorenson (St. Cloud State) had another multiple RBI game driving in another two runs on two base-knocks to run his RBI total to 29 in 25 games with the Kalamazoo Growlers. Jesse Pushceck (Canisius College) had two extra base hits and two runs scored to help the Growlers win their second straight game. Alex Maloney (Ball State) extended his hitting streak to five games and drove in two RBI's to help carry the offensive workload.

The Kalamazoo Growlers will be back in action for two games tomorrow as they take on the Battle Creek Bombers in a home-in-home doubleheader to complete the season series between the two Michigan rivals. The first pitch of the morning game will be at 11:00 am E..S.T. at C.O. Brown Stadium in Battle Creek, Michigan.
