Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.-The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters' (20-38, 8-14) post All- Star game blues continued as they dropped a 6-1 game to the Kalamazoo Growlers (24-35, 11-13) on Tuesday. The Rafters have now dropped six in a row ahead of their busiest stretch in their schedule.

Kalamazoo got the offense started early as they jumped out ahead 1-0 after the away half of the 1st. Kalamazoo extended their lead when Alex Maloney (Ball State) laced a two RBI single to give the Growlers a 3-0 lead. That would be more than enough for Growlers starter Ryan Colegate (Ohio Dominican). Colegate went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits. To earn his first win since June 1st.

Rafters starter Jason Freeman (Texas A&M) battled through 7 innings as he provided the Rafters bullpen with a much needed respite for a night. Freeman gave up five runs although only three of which were earned. The Rafters could not pick up the key base hit all night long as they left ten runners on base.

The Rafters will now play parts of five games in the next two days in two different countries. First pitch tomorrow is scheduled for 12:05 pm. Fans can take part in the game day Lunch Break Special of getting a slab of ribs, bag of chips, pasta salad, brownie kebob, a fountain soda as well as the game ticket for just $10.
