Kingfish Run Away from Mallards 14-5

August 5, 2018 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Madison Mallards News Release

The Madison Mallards (45-21, 17-13) were in the game early, but poor control on the mound led to an easy 14-5 Kingfish (35-31, 22-10) win in Kenosha Sunday afternoon. Madison led only once in the game on an RBI single by Jake Randa (NW Florida State) in the bottom of the first. After a two-run Kenosha first, the Mallards middle infield defense kept them in the game by turning two inning ending double plays.

Turning Point

The wheels came off in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Mallards trailing 3-1. Madison pitchers yielded four walks in the bottom of the fifth, and when the dust settled, Kenosha led 6-1. The Kingfish put the game away in the bottom of the sixth inning, drawing two more walks which scored ahead of a grand slam. Kenosha led 11-1 at the end of the sixth and cruised on to a 14-5 win.
