Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - The Kenosha Kingfish dropped their third straight game this afternoon in Green Bay by a final score of 10-7. The Kingfish could be best described as always a half step behind the Bullfrogs, and just never seemed able to get ahead.
EJ Trapino was sent to the mound for a spot start in place of the injured Andrew Zapata. Trapino, who had been effective all season for the Kingfish coming out of the bullpen, had a tough afternoon in Green Bay. He lasted just three and a third of an inning while surrendering five runs off of six hits. Callahan Brown replaced him in the fourth, allowing two more runs to cross. Ryan Orr, Anthony Olson, Garrett McKenzie and Trevor Haas each combined for 2.2 IP and three runs allowed on the afternoon.
The Kingfish were able to do some damage offensively, however, and strike for seven runs. Both Brody Westmoreland and Jason Scholl socked home runs to right field, and Alex Dunlap had a double to left that just missed getting out. Mitch Gasbarro had another nice afternoon, finishing 3-3 with a double and walk. Aside from the performances by Mitch Gasbarro and Alex Dunlap, who had a two-hit day, no other Kingfish had a multi hit performance. Yet the team, as a whole, combined for a nine hit afternoon. The Kingfish were behind most of the game, but were able to tie the game up on several occasions. Every time they did, however, the Bullfrogs found a way to retaliate and reclaim the lead. The seven runs were not enough to notch a win, and the Kingfish fell to 19-8 on the season.
The Kingfish will try to end their three game skid tomorrow and reach the 20-win mark. First pitch will be delivered at 7:05 CT tomorrow evening.
