Indy Eleven News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Indy Eleven announced on Friday the club has acquired defender Macauley King via transfer from fellow USL Championship club Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. In a corresponding move, the Boys in Blue transferred forward Jonas Fjeldberg to the Switchbacks. Per club policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

King returns to the Circle City, having begun his USL Championship career with the Eleven in 2019. He appeared in 22 matches in his rookie campaign, making 17 starts and logging 1,488 minutes, helping Indy to an appearance in the USL Championship Eastern Conference Final and a 19-9-6 final record, which included an undefeated mark at home. That season, King had one goal and three assists for the Eleven, while adding 25 clearances, four blocks, 14 interceptions and 17 tackles and 86 duels won. In all, the Leicester, England, native made 25 appearances for the Boys in Blue scoring once and adding four assists.

King also reunites with Eleven head coach Mark Lowry, who led El Paso Locomotive FC when he was acquired on Aug. 11, 2020. He spent two seasons with the club where he appeared in 37 matches for 2,881 minutes. King scored seven goals and notched five assists and collected five USL Team of the Week honors.

In January 2022, King was transferred to Colorado Springs and appeared in 12 matches logging 579 minutes during his initial season. Seeing limited time due to injury, King collected six clearances and six interceptions, while registering a passing accuracy of just over 74%. To open the 2023 season, King has started all five matches played for Colorado Springs, registered eight clearances, three blocks, three interceptions and a pair of shots.

King will be available for the Eleven for Saturday's match at Sacramento Republic FC.
