Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Nic Dumoulin's three-point effort led the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees to a 3-2 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays Saturday night at the American Bank Center. Dumoulin's power play goal at 8:44 of the middle stanza held up as the game-winner.
Corpus Christi took a 2-1 lead out of the first period on a pair of goals by Curtis Huppe. Huppe opened the scoring at 2:55. Matt Byrnes redirected a Dumoulin shot past IceRays goalie Kris Tebbs to knot things at 1, but Huppe struck again on the power play at 12:54.
RGV snapped an 0-for-10 power play slump in the second period, taking advantage of an Adam Powell high sticking double minor. Zak McClellan notched his ninth goal of the year at 8:23 and then Dumoulin bagged his 13th 19 seconds later to give RGV the lead.
Wylie Rogers, in his first start since Jan. 20 at Tulsa, made 29 saves for the victory. Rogers sparkled in the third period making 14 saves, including a point-blank bid by Chris Richards.
Tebbs made 24 saves in the loss.
The Killer Bees return home for a pair of games this Friday and Saturday at Dodge Arena. Face off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Listen live on Real Country 102.1 FM or watch online via the CHL Network.
