
Kick off All-Star Week with the Scorps

ALBUQUERQUE â The New Mexico Scorpions are looking to kick off the 2004 Dodge CHL All-Star Game festivities in style with the All-Star Face-off Party on Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 8-11 p.m. at O'Niell's Uptown, located on Uptown Blvd. just west of Louisiana and just south of Coronado Mall. Scorpions All-Stars Mike Oliveira and Chris Richards along with other Scorpions players are scheduled to be in attendance.
The night will feature live music from The Sandudes, pints of Scorpions Ale and other Rio Grande Brewing products for $2.75, carnival games, a twist contest and the opportunity to play pool and darts against Scorpions for $1 per game. There is no cover charge, and proceeds from the pool and darts games benefit Carrie Tingley Children's Hospital.
Every person in attendance receives an entry for a grand prize; other prizes will be given away as well from the Scorpions, O'Niell's, Rio Grande Brewing, Carrie Tingley Children's Hospital and other local businesses. In addition, tickets for the 2004 Dodge CHL All-Star Banquet will be available for purchase.
"This is a great way to kick off All-Star Week in Albuquerque," said Scorpions Senior Vice President/General Manager Geoff Kent. "We hope everybody will take advantage of this opportunity to come out and get ready for a lot of fun with the All-Star events."
The Scorpions return home to Tingley Coliseum this weekend for a pair of games on Friday, Jan. 16 against the Amarillo Gorillas and Saturday, Jan. 17 against the Colorado Eagles. Faceoff is 7:05 p.m., and both games can be heard on Sports Radio 610 The Sports Animal beginning at 6:50 p.m. Saturday 's game is Bank of Albuquerque Scorpions Piggy Bank Night to the first 1,000 fans through the doors.
