Keys Win Opener, Can't Make it Two

Keys OF Brent Krause singled home OF Kennard Jones with the winning run in the 12th inning as the Keys won the suspended game from Tuesday night, 6-5 over Salem. Frederick would allow five runs in the third inning and never recover in an 8-2 loss that followed the suspended game.

Krause's bases loaded single ended a game that was suspended due to rain in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night tied 5-5. Salem scored three in the ninth to tie it Tuesday and Frederick's late inning woes continued Wednesday. In three innings they stranded five runners before winning in the 12th. Jones, who scored the winning run, paced Frederick with four hits.

In the nightcap, Keys starter Chorye Spoone was stung in the third inning. He allowed a leadoff walk, followed by four hits in a five-run Avalanche third inning. Salem got late inning home runs from CF Mitch Einertson (9) and 3B Billy Hart (3) to put the game away.

The rubber match will take place Thursday, August 23rd at 7:00 p.m. as Frederick and Salem face off for the final time in the 2007 regular season. Their will be a free Keys Card Strip Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans 16 and under presented by the Frederick County SmokeFree Coalition.
