Beau Knows - Cleveland's first round draft pick of â07 (13th overall), Beau Mills arrived in Kinston today. The corner infielder was hitting .271 with five homers and 36 RBI in 44 games at Low A Lake County. Mills started the year in Mahoning Valley, hitting .179 in eight games. Mills was considered by many to be the best power hitting prospect in the entire 2007 draft. After spending two years at Fresno State University, Mills played this season at NAIA Lewis-Clark State. He set the NAIA single-season record by hitting 38 home runs while helping Lewis-Clark State to defend their NAIA National Championship. The NAIA player of the year batted .458, with 100 runs, 22 doubles and 123 RBI. At Fresno State he hit .355 with 14 home runs as a Sophomore. He was chosen WAC Freshman of the Year three seasons ago, hitting .319 with 22 home runs. K-Triber Dustin Realini is sent down to Low A Lake County...Realini hit .407 in eight games for Kinston. Mills is the son of current Red Sox Bench Coach Brad Mills.
The Brooms are Out - The K-Tribe is leading the Carolina League Southern Division by 4 games with 12 to go (magic number of 10). Kinston is trying to sweep both the first and second halves of the season for the first time since 2001. The K-Tribe has slowed down a bit, after a six game winning streak to begin the month, Kinston has gone 7-10 in their last 17 games. Kinston has lost the first two games of three of the last four series, facing a sweep for the third time in the last two weeks. Lynchburg swept Kinston two weeks ago, it was the K-Tribe's first sweep of the season. Kinston fought off a sweep at the hands of Frederick last weekend, winning the finale 12-0. Kinston has now lost three of the last four series, now having lost 9 series this season.
Player of the Week Sweep - Kinston first baseman Matt Whitney and starting pitcher Frank Herrmann combined to sweep the Carolina League weekly awards. Whitney is the Carolina League Player of the Week, after hitting .417 (10-24) with four home runs, seven RBI and nine runs scored. Herrmann is the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 in two starts. Herrmann pitched a combined 15 innings, giving up just one earned run while striking out ten. Herrmann's first start of the week was a seven inning complete game; he now leads the Carolina League with three complete games this season. Herrmann in 10-5 with a 4.10 ERA and has won his last three starts. Herrmann racked up his 10th win of the season on Sunday, making him the fourth K-Tribe pitcher this season to get ten wins.

Wright is making his eleventh Carolina League start tonight after being called up from Low A Lake County on June 25th. Wright had his worst start of the season on Friday at Frederick, giving up six hits and 11 earned runs while walking four. Wright has given up a total of 20 earned runs in his last three starts. Wright was 4-7 with a 4.61 ERA in 14 starts for Low A Lake County, striking out 75 and walking 15 in 66.1 innings. Wright was the WAC Pitcher of the Year last season going 11-2 with a 2.30 ERA for Hawaii. Wright was drafted in the second round (56th overall) by Cleveland last season, the highest pick for the Rainbows since 1996. Wright caught mononucleosis at the end of his college season and did not make his professional debut until this year.
