Frederick Keys News Release

Frederick slugged three home runs and pitched out of trouble getting critical strikeouts throughout the night defeating Winston-Salem 10-4 to salvage a game in their three-game series Friday night. 1B Brandon Snyder (5), 3B Billy Rowell (4) and DH Chris Vinyard (8) all homered and starter Jake Arrieta struck out a career-high ten batters in a winning effort.

Arrieta (6-4) was able to get out of bases loaded jams with minimal jams in the first two inning. His ten strikeouts came in just five innings helping him to his first win since May 21st. The Keys staff struck out 15 batters, the most they have in a game this year.

Frederick took the lead in the fourth inning and held on via the long ball. Snyder's two-run sixth inning home run put Frederick atop 5-2. The first-baseman drove home three runs in the game.

Rowell would then homer in the eighth, with an enormous clout to centerfield, on a night in which he went 3-for-5 with two RBI's. Rowell was a triple shy of the cycle in the victory.

Vinyard put the game away with Frederick's first grand slam since May 13, 2007. The drive put the Keys atop 10-4 in the ninth inning.

Frederick heads to Lynchburg to open a three-game series Saturday July 5th at 6:05 p.m. The Keys return home for Peanut Free Night Wednesday July 9th at 7:00 p.m.
