Frederick Keys News Release

The Keys registered its seventh consecutive victory for the first time since August of 2005, with a 7-2 win in Potomac on Tuesday night at Pfitzner Stadium. Every Key registered a hit in the win and starter Nathan Moreau worked six strong innings to notch his sixth victory.

Moreau allowed consecutive bunt singles to open the game, followed by a walk to load the bases. Working with a 1-0 lead he was able to limit the Nationals without another hit until the seventh inning. Potomac only scored one run to tie the game in the first inning.

The Keys then jumped in front with a run in the third and the first Carolina League home run of CF Trent Mummey in the fifth inning. Mummey would finish the night 2-for-6 with a home run and two runs scored.

Up 4-1 in the seventh inning, the Nationals looked to storm back. After a leadoff single, Potomac 1B Brian Peacock doubled home a run. After a hit by pitch Moreau was removed for RHP Clay Schrader. The fireballing righty struck out consecutive batters before walking SS Jose Lozada to load the bases. In a 4-2 game, Schrader enticed Nationals LF Eury Perez to climb the ladder on a two-strike high fastball to end the inning. Schrader stayed on for the save working three shutout innings while striking out six batters.

Potomac committed four errors in the game leading to four unearned runs for the Keys. The Nationals were officially eliminated from contention in the first half with the loss.

The series continues Wednesday, June 8th at 7:05 p.m. with RHP Ryohei Tanaka on the hill. Airtime is 6:45 p.m. on 1450-AM The Source.
