THE HILLCATS: Monday, the Hillcats beat the Salem Red Sox 5-4...Lynchburg reliever Andrew Wilson surrendered a game tying three-run home run in the top of the ninth...With the score tied 4-4, Adam Milligan stepped up in the bottom of the ninth with the game winning run at second base and singled down the third-base line for a walk-off RBI single...The Hillcats sit in third place in the Carolina League Northern Division, now 9.5 games back of the first place Frederick Keys...

VS. SALEM: The Hillcats are 3-8 against the Red Sox this season...The two teams have met seven times in Salem and four times in Lynchburg...The Red Sox won the first seven match-ups of the year, but the 'Cats have pulled out three of the last four in dramatic fashion, with game-winning hits coming in the eighth inning or later in each win...Last season, the Red Sox took the season series 11-8 over Lynchburg...Myrtle Beach (2010 Braves Advanced-A affiliate) fared worse against Salem, winning just five of the 20 match-ups...

BEST SHOW IN TOWN: The Hillcats and Red Sox season series began as a boring one-sided affair with Salem taking all six of the first match-ups in April, outscoring Lynchburg 43-19...However, the last five games have been some of the most exciting games all year, with each game being decided by two runs or less, two walk-offs, and one extra inning affair...The trailing team has tied or taken the lead five times in the eighth inning or later in the past five contests, with 24 of the 60 runs from both sides in those games scoring after the seventh frame as well...

NEVER EASY AT HOME: Ahead by three heading into the ninth, Hillcats' reliever, Andrew Wilson, blew his first save of the year surrendering a game-tying three-run homer...A walk-off RBI single for Adam Milligan (third for the 'Cats this season) saved the day in the bottom of the frame, as the Hillcats remain one of three teams in the league yet to lose when leading after eight innings...Overall, the 'Cats have disappointed at home this season, currently 9-16 at City Stadium, good for a .360 winning percentage, second-worst in the league only to the Potomac Nationals, who are 5-14 (.263)...Lynchburg is now 2-3 on their current eight-game homestand...

THE 'CATS CAN BAT: After combining to go 10-for-33 as a team last night, Lynchburg is hitting .267 on the season, .10 points higher than the next best clip (Myrtle Beach, .257)...The 'Cats are second in home runs (43), second in doubles (117), first in triples (19), and not surprisingly they lead the league in slugging percentage at .417 (only team slugging over .400)...They also boast the fewest strikeouts (376)...They average the most runs scored per game at 4.52...However, they also have given up the second-most runs in the league, only allowing less than the Potomac Nationals who boast the league's worst record at 22-35...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Seven members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

PLAYER OF THE MONTH: INF Joey Terdoslavich was honored as the Carolina League Player of the Month for May as voted by the league's managers...Terdoslavich hit .304 (31-for-102) with four home runs and 20 RBI in 27 games last month...He is second in the league in home runs with 11 on the season...He also racked up 11 doubles in May, and currently has 18 total, tying him for second in the league as well...His average went from .243 to .279 during the month...The honor was the first weekly or monthly award of his career...

BACK WITH A VENGEANCE: OF Adam Milligan was hitting just .224 (19-for-85) before hitting the disabled list with a pulled hamstring, which he injured on May 7...Since returning to action May 18, he's hitting .338 (25-for-74)...He has a hit in 15 of 20 games since coming back, with nine multi-hit games...Has driven in 17 runs, scored 13, and hit three home runs in those 20 contests...He now has eight long balls on the year...His batting average has risen by .53 points to .277 (44-for-159)...Had his first two-walk game May 30, he's drawn nine free passes since coming back, after having just two before the injury...His on-base percentage has gone from .247 to .337...He's now fourth in the league in slugging percentage at .535...

LET HIM SIMMER: INF Andrelton Simmons brought his average up to .311 on May 1 after going 3-for-4 in the midst of a season best 13-game hitting streak...Has kept it above .300 ever since, currently hitting .314...Last night, Simmons went 2-for-3 extending his current hit-streak to eight games...His .314 average is currently tied for second-best in the league with Salem's Reynaldo Rodriguez, and his 64 hits rank third...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER : RHP Ryan Pressly was selected in the 11th round of the 2007 draft by the Red Sox out of Marcus (TX) High School...Was seventh among Red Sox minor league pitchers with a 3.72 ERA in 2010...Held opponents to three runs or less in 22 of his 24 starts for Greenville in 2010...His 24 starts was tied for second on the team...Pitched for Lowell in 2009, and tied for first on the team in strikeouts (64) and tied for second in wins (6)...Has started three times against Lynchburg, on 4/13, 4/18 and 6/2...Earned a win in all three games...Combined for 16 and two-thirds innings pitched, allowing for 16 hits, seven runs, four of them earned, with five strikeouts...Currently 4-4 with a 4.34 ERA...
