Kernels shut out Chiefs, 5-0 Stephen Locke allows three hits over 8 IP

Cedar Rapids, IA - Kernels starter Stephen Locke (3-1) held the Peoria Chiefs to three hits and struck out six over eight innings as the Kernels shut out Peoria, 5-0. Carlos Ramirez went 2-4 with a three run HR in the seventh inning and Mike Trout was 3-4 with a double, RBI and stolen base (37).

The Kernels managed six hits off Peoria starter Su-Min Jung but couldn't push any runs across and hit into two double plays. Jean Segura's RBI single in the sixth off reliever Ronny Morla (1-2) gave the Kernels a 1-0 lead the Ramirez hit his fourth HR of the year off Steven Grife to give the Kernels a 4-0 lead.

Justin Bass was 3-4 with a run scored and Jon Karcich was 2-4 as the Kernels pounded out 14 hits in the game. Greg Rohan was 2-3 and Justin Bour was 1-4 to account for Peoria's three hits.
