Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
Game On!
July 4, 2005 - Today's scheduled game between the Kernels and the Ft. Wayne Wizards, Midwest League affiliate of the San Diego Padres, is still on for a 5 p.m. start despite less than ideal weather conditions. Gates will open at 4 p.m.
The Kernels will be wearing patriotic red, white, and blue jersey tops today thanks to RFK Transportation and they'll be auctioned off during and after the game with the proceeds going to the Veterans Memorial. Specifically, the money raised will be earmarked for a new Iraq War memorial.
The first 1,000 kids through the gate will also receive a free baseball bat courtesy of McDonald's.
Tickets can be purchased by calling the Cost Cutters Kernels Box Office at 896-7560 or by stopping by the stadium before game time.
