Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels saw five players record multi-hit nights but the pitching staff surrendered a season-worst 15 knocks in an 11-6 loss to the Beloit Sky Carp on Tuesday evening. Kyler Fedko had three hits while Yunior Severino, Jake Rucker, Seth Gray and Will Holland each had two-hit nights to lead the Kernels lineup. Cedar Rapids falls to 59-38, 16-15 in the second half.
Down 1-0 early, Fedko led off the home half of the first with a single and later scored on a Severino sacrifice fly. Beloit responded with a run in the third, then Severino put the Kernels in front 3-2 with a rocket two-run homer to left-center.
The Sky Carp lineup bounced right back, plating two in the fourth, four in the fifth, two more in the seventh and one in the eighth to take a 11-3 lead into the ninth inning.
Rucker launched a 427-foot two-run blast over the Plumbers & Pipefitters deck with one away in the ninth, then Gray plated Severino with a two-out RBI single as part of a three-spot in the ninth as the Kernels' comeback effort fell short.

Ryan Shreve was the lone Kernels pitcher to work a scoreless outing, tossing a 1-2-3 ninth on nine pitches.
