The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Prince George Cougars 4-2 on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.

The Rockets got on the board first at the 12:13 mark as Leif Mattson(3) scored for the third game in a row. Vladislav Mikhalchuk(4) responded for the Cougars with 35 seconds remaining in the period and the score was 1-1 after 20 minutes.

9:04 into the middle frame Kyle Topping(7) pulled the Rockets back ahead by one. With just over a minute to play in the period Rockets Captain Cal Foote(4) ripped home a point shot to give Kelowna a two goal cushion. They took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

Josh Maser(5) brought the Cougars back within one on a Prince George power play 3:19 into the final stanza, but with 1:28 remaining Carsen Twarynski put the game out of the Cougars reach as he scored on the empty net for his ninth of the season. Rockets win 4-2.

James Porter made 26 saves on 28 shots as his record improves to 4-2-1-0.

The Rockets improve to 7-5-1-1 thus far.

The Rockets hit the road following this weekend for a three game trip. Their first stop is in Tri-City for a rematch with the Americans on Wednesday, November 1st, 2017. The next stop is in Victoria where the Rockets play back-to-back nights against the Royals on November 3rd and 4th.

Kelowna is back home again following this weekend on Friday, November 10th when they host the Vancouver Giants followed by the Red Deer Rebels the very next night.
