The Regina Pats (8-6-2-0) wrap up their four game road trip on Sunday afternoon in Edmonton against the Oil Kings (5-7-2-0). Puck drop is at 4:00 p.m. at Rogers Place. The Pats are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss in Red Deer on Saturday night. The Oil Kings have been off since last Sunday when they lost 6-0 at home to the Spokane Chiefs. Tonight is the second of four meetings between the Pats and Oil Kings in 2017-18, Regina took the opener on home ice, 3-2 in overtime on October 15. The Lead Up: Pats fall 4-3 in OT to Red Deer Saturday
The Regina Pats fell 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night in Red Deer to the Rebels. Red Deer jumped out to a 2-0 lead 16 minutes into the first but Dawson Davidson got one back and it was 2-1 after 20 minutes. In the second, Josh Mahura picked up his fifth of the year while on the five on three powerplay to tie the game at two. Robbie Holmes then redirected his third of the year past Ethan Anders and the Pats took the 3-2 lead into the final period. Red Deer drew even with a powerplay goal less than three minutes in and that eventually forced overtime. In the extra frame, former Pat Lane Zablocki skated up the right wing and scored into the top of the net to give the Rebels the extra point, 4-3 the final score. The Pats outshot Red Deer 31-20 in the loss, the powerplay was one for six and the penalty kill one for two. Dawson Davidson led the offence with a goal and an assist while Tyler Brown made 16 saves.

The Pats are 1-0-0-0 against Edmonton heading into tonight's second meeting of four in the 2017-18 season. The Pats won the first matchup on October 15 at the Brandt Centre, 3-2 in overtime. The Pats got the game winner off the stick of Emil Oksanen on the powerplay in the extra frame. Josh Mahura had three assists for Regina while Sam Steel and Matt Bradley each put up two points. The Oil Kings were led by Tomas Soustal who had two assists in the defeat while Davis Koch and Conner McDonald provided the goals. Regina enters Sunday with 18 points in the standings, four back of the East Division leading Moose Jaw Warriors. Edmonton has 12 points through their first 14 games and are four back of the Medicine Hat Tigers who lead the Central Division.
Career High
Pats forward Robbie Holmes set a new career high for goals in a season with his third of the year on Saturday night in Red Deer. The 18-year-old redirected a Jake Leschyshyn shot in the second period, which at the time gave Regina a 3-2 lead. Holmes, an 11th round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, scored two goals in his first two games in the league at 16. He scored two more as a 17-year-old in 2016-17 and added another three goals in the 2017 post-season. Through 13 games this year, Holmes has scored three times on 20 shots on goal.
