Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 5-0 in Langley on Saturday night.
The Rockets got on the board at 6:10 of the first as Calvin Thurkauf scored his 25th of the season. Two and a half minutes later James Hilsendager put the Rockets up 2-0 through 20 minutes of play.
Erik Gardiner scored on the power play for the second night in a row one minute into the middle frame, and just 10 seconds later Lucas Johansen scored his fourth. Kole Lind scored his team leading 26th of the year and the Rockets carried a 5-0 lead into the final stanza.
Vancouver came on in the third recording a team high nine shots in the frame but Brodan Salmond shut the door.
Dillon Dube led the Rockets recording three assists on the night.
Salmond improved to 9-7-1-0 and saved all 19 shots he faced to record back-to-back shutouts on back-to-back nights. The Rockets out-shot the Giants 38-19.
The Rockets improve to 32-20-4-0 on the season.
Kelowna is back in action on Monday afternoon on home ice to take on one of the hottest teams in the WHL the Seattle Thunderbirds. Puck drop is 2:05pm.
