Calgary Hitmen News Release
Edmonton, AB - Tyler Robertson scored 1:12 into overtime lifting the Edmonton Oil Kings to a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday evening at Rogers Place.
The Oil Kings jumped out to a quick start, building a 2-0 lead on goals from Trey Fix-Wolansky and Davis Koch 6:02 into the opening period.
Calgary pushed back to tie the game before the end of the frame. Beck Malenstyn netted his 23rd of the season and Jake Bean his 7th.
There was no scoring through the remainder of regulation although both teams had an abundance of power play time. Calgary went 1-7 which included a four minute power play while Edmonton was also 1-7, which included a two-man advantage for 1:21.
The single point picked up by the Hitmen moves them two points back of Saskatoon for the final Eastern Conference Wild Card spot and to within five points of Red Deer for third place in the Central Division.
