WINNIPEG, MB – With one thrilling and dazzling play, runningback Keith Stokes ignited a mammoth comeback that gave the Winnipeg Blue Bombers their third-straight victory.

Last Saturday at Canad Inns Stadium, the Toronto Argonauts had just taken a 27-13 lead over Winnipeg on a 77-yard punt return score by Arland Bruce III with only eight seconds left in the 1st Half. When all seemed lost for the Bombers, Stokes took the ensuing kickoff from Noel Prefontaine and raced 108 yards for a touchdown with no time left on the clock.

That one play sparked a 28-point turnaround for Winnipeg en route to a 44-34 win over the Boatmen. Stokes totaled 244 combined yards on the day based on 172 kickoff return yards, 46 punt return yards and 26 receiving yards.

The kickoff return score was the 4th-longest in the history of Blue Bombers Football. It was also the first in the CFL this season and the first of Stokes' career. Stokes now has a total of 10 return scores: seven by punt returns, two by missed field goal returns and one by kickoff return. He has four return scores this season: three by punt returns and one by kickoff return.

Stokes leads the CFL in punt returns (64), punt return yards (800), punt return touchdowns (3) and kickoff return touchdowns (1). He is also 2nd in combined yards (1,958), 2nd in kickoff returns (39), 2nd in missed field goal returns (6), 3rd in punt return average (12.5 yards per return), 3rd in kickoff return yards (783) and 4th in missed field goal return yards (109).

In only 13 games, Stokes already holds several Blue Bomber club records and Top-10 placings.

The CFL Player of the Week Award is the 7th for Stokes in his short time in the league. He won once in his rookie season of 2002 (Week 6), three times in 2003 (Week 5, Week 9 & Division Championship Week) and now three times this season (Week 2, Week 8 & Week 14).

Stokes was also named CFL Player of the Month in the special teams category for August.
