PORTLAND - Cole Kehler made 28 saves while Cody Glass furnished a pair of assists to help the Portland Winterhawks hold off the Everett Silvertips, 2-0 before 8,263 fans at Moda Center on Sunday in WHL action.

The Silvertips, who had their eight game road win streak (franchise record) snapped with just their third loss in regulation since Jan. 31, poured on 28 shots but came up short on five power play opportunities. Carter Hart kept the Silvertips in the game with a 29 save effort.

UP NEXT: The Silvertips, whose magic number remains at three points to clinch the U.S. Division, finish their road trip on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. (1380 AM / FM 95.3 / WHL Live / Tips App) against the host Tri-City Americans in the eighth and final regular season matchup.

Carter Hart came up with a huge save on a Skyler McKenzie one timer to keep the game scorless in the first period, but Brendan DeJong put Portland up 1-0 at 10:06 when his shot from the blueline took two bounces of traffic and snuck past a diving Carter Hart blocker save attempt, for DeJong's fifth goal of the season.

The Tips, who recovered from an 8-1 shots deficit to tie the count at 20-20 by the end of the second period, earned their best look on a Connor Dewar rush opportunity from the right circle, but Kehler turned it away along with another one timer by Dewar late in the period.

Patrick Bajkov then earned the Tips best chance to tie in the third period on a partial shorthanded breakaway which Kehler stopped with a glove deflection. Henri Jokijarhju extended the Portland lead to 2-0 on a one-timer from the top, a power play goal with 6:04 remaining regulation.

The Tips finished the season series, 5-5-0-0 against the Winterhawks.
