San Angelo Colts News Release
Edinburg, Texas---The Colts played a double-header on Thursday night against the McAllen Thunder. After a dominating performance in game one, the Colts would struggle for runs in game two. Righty Sean Keeler went the distance in the first game, while southpaw Kyle Boggio struggled in the second game. The end results was a split with San Angelo winning game one 11-4 and losing game two 6-2.
In game one Sean Keeler, in his second start with the Colts, went the distance in a shortened seven inning game because of the twin bill, allowed just three earned runs. Sean was rewarded with four runs in the third as the Colts overcame a 2-0 Thunder lead, to take a 4-2 advantage as Cory Patton, Daryl Jones and Mark Ramos all drove in runs. San Angelo added a pair in the third on a Ronnie Gaines double that drove in two to go up 6-2. The Colts added four more in the sixth as Clay Calfee drove in two, Trey Carter drove in one and an error gave San Angelo a 10-2 lead. Calfee drove in his third run of the game to make it 11-2 with a double and McAllen added two in the bottom of the seventh, one on an Eric Eiland (9) homer, but the Colts won by a final of 11-4.
Game two was a different story with McAllen being the ones showing power. The Colts old nemesis Zack Mandlerblatt (9 & 10) hit two, two-run homers, Antoin Gray (7) hit a solo shot and Wilson Batista's RBI single accounted for all six Thunder runs. Colts southpaw Kyle Boggio allowed six runs in five innings in his first start for the Colts taking the loss. McAllen beat the Colts 6-2 splitting the double-header.
On Friday San Angelo will sends one of the newest members of the Colts in right-hander Ryan Riddle, who will be making his first start (0-0, 0.00) against a former member of the Colts southpaw Frank James (4-1, 5.87) for McAllen. It all starts with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m. with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on 101.9 "The Fire".
