San Angelo Colts News Release
Edinburg, Texas---The Colts received contributions on Friday night from their two newest member in outfielders Beau Riportella and southpaw Ryan Riddle. It would be the strong arm of Riddle and the power of Riportella that helped propel San Angelo to a 5-2 victory. The Colts have now taken three of the first four games of this series.
San Angelo went on top quick as the first batter of the game Ronnie Gaines (23) lead off with a homerun to put the Colts up 1-0. The score remained the same until the fifth when newcomer Beau Riportella (1), who had not homered all year, hit his first a two-run shot to put the Colts up 3-0. Brian Nichols (4) hit a homer for McAllen to make it 3-1 in the seventh and he would add a run the following inning in the eighth on an RBI single, to make it a one run game at 3-2. After Cory Patton put out the fire with a strikeout with the bases loaded in the eighth, it would go to the ninth. The Colts received a clutch two out double by Vic Ferrante that drove in two in the top of the ninth to give San Angelo some insurance and a 5-2 lead.
Sean Kramer (11) would strikeout the side in order in the ninth to preserve the win, as the Colts won by that same final. Ryan Riddle, although he did not factor in the win was terrific in his debut throwing four and one-third, allowing just five hits, no runs, no walks and struck out three. Chace Vacek (1-2) pitched well in relief picking up his first win of the year. In the loss Frank James (4-2) went eight and two-third striking out nine.
On Saturday the Colts and the Thunder close out their five-game set. San Angelo will send out their ace southpaw Logan Williamson (9-1, 4.55) against righty Alien Mora (1-2, 7.00) for McAllen. It all starts with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m. with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on 101.9 "The Fire".
