Kansas City Monarchs News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones (7-12) dropped their sixth straight game as they fell 9-5 in the third game of a four-game series against the Grand Prairie AirHogs (14-5) Wednesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
With 3,624 on hand, the T-Bones jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Jae Jung (2-1) in the first inning on a two-run double by Brian Joynt. Grand Prairie cut the lead in half in the second when Guillermo Martinez drove home Zane Chavez with an RBI single off Mike Rocco (0-4).
The AirHogs took the lead in the third, scoring two runs on two hits and one error to make the score 3-2. An RBI double by David Espinosa then stretched Grand Prairie's lead to one in the fourth, 4-2.
Rocco suffered the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits over four innings. The right-hander did not return after rain forced a one hour and twenty-one minute delay.
When play resumed, both teams were held scoreless until Grand Prairie put the game out of reach with a five-run sixth against Aaron Cook. David Espinosa and Tyler Henley both collected RBI triples in the inning.
Jung picked up his second win of the season after allowing two runs on three hits over six innings. Kansas City added three runs in the bottom of the ninth off Bo Schultz to cap the score at 9-5.
The two teams face off Thursday morning as Ryne Reynoso (2-1, 5.50) and the T-Bones try to prevent a four-game sweep opposite John Brownell (3-0, 2.46) and the AirHogs. First pitch is set for 11:05. Call 913-328-5618 or visit www.tbonesbaseball.com to secure your seats today!
