
American Idol Star Chris Medina to Sing at RailCats Game June 6

GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats will welcome American Idol Star Chris Medina to U. S. Steel Yard as part of Solo Night at the 7:10 p.m. contest on Monday, June 6 against the Sioux City Explorers.
Medina will perform his single "What are Words" which reached number 24 on the iTunes top 200 charts, number 83 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as number One on the Norwegian Singles Chart and in Singapore. Medina will sing the National Anthem before the game. The Oak Lawn, Ill. native appeared on the most recent season of American Idol where he shared with the world the heartbreaking story of his fiancée Juliana Ramos who was in a tragic car accident two months prior to their wedding.
Medina has spent nearly two years caring for her and the story touched fans and judges alike, leading Jennifer Lopez to break down in tears when voting him off the show. Since leaving American Idol, Medina has shared this remarkable love story all over the country appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Live with Regis and Kelly, Good Morning America and On-Air with Ryan Seacrest as well as being featured in People, US Weekly and TV Guide.

On June 1, Janet Spencer Barnes (Juliana's mother) released the book "Almost to the Almost, One Penny at a Time" which initially began as a way to keep friends and family updated on the recovery process but soon developed into a chronicle of international inspiration as Barnes gradually created a love story about her daughter which captured the hearts of a nation fascinated by her journey and the unwavering support of her fiancé, Chris Medina.
Medina, Ramos and family will all be at U. S. Steel Yard on June 6 to continue to spread this amazing story and promote the upcoming "Ride for Juliana" in Schererville, Ind. on June 18 sponsored by American Legion Riders Post 485 with all proceeds to benefit The Juliana Ramos Foundation.
