Tonight's Game...
The Kannapolis Intimidators look to bounce back after dropping their first game since the season opener in Lakewood (April 7), falling to the Hickory Crawdads, 9-5, on Saturday night. Kannapolis and Hickory have split the first two games of this four-game series. Kannapolis starter Kevin Moran appeared in 21 games last season between Bristol and Kannapolis, all in relief. A ninth round pick by the White Sox in 2010, Moran led Boston College in wins (going 8-5) as a junior in 2010 despite working primarily out of the bullpen. Moran will face Hickory's Carlos Melo, who spent last season between Hickory, Spokane (NWL) and the Arizona League Rangers, combining to go 4-4 with a 3.70 ERA in 14 games (13 starts). Melo set a career-high with 13 strikeouts in six innings of work in a playoff game with the AZL Rangers last season.
Kids Day...
This evening's game, and all Sunday games in 2011, is Kids Day at the ballpark, presented by Zamitti Orthodontics. Kids can collect autographs from their favorite Intimidators players before the games on Sundays and can run the bases after the game ends. Sunday games will also feature the new Dave & Busters ballpark midway with fun games set up down the first base concourse.
Streak Snapped...
The Intimidators remain in first place in the South Atlantic League Northern Division despite seeing their seven-game winning streak snapped in last night's loss to Hickory.
Sweet Relief...
RHP Paul Burnside entered yesterday's game in the first inning and managed to face the minimum nine batters through the second third and fourth innings.
HBP Problems...
Kannapolis pitchers combined to hit four Crawdads batters last night, two in the first inning and two in the fifth. All four came around to score, providing Hickory their four-run margin of victory.
