
Kamloops Defeats Everett In Shootout

Kamloops, B.C. - The Kamloops Blazers scored two goals in the third period crawling their way back into the game before taking two points in a shootout over Everett, 4-3. Zack Dailey had one goal and one assist on the night, Dailey's goal ties a career high in goals. Shane Harper had two assists on the night giving him 27 on the season. Dan Iwanski and Byron Froese rounded out the scoring for Everett, Kamloops in now 2-0 in shootouts against Everett.
This brings the 'Tips record to 22-23-6-1 with 51 points in 52 games played taking them to sixth place in the Western Conference. Everett stands four points behind fifth place Kamloops Blazers and 12 points behind fourth place Kelowna Rockets. The Silvertips are now 1-6-1-2 in their last 10 games. The Silvertips continue their B.C. road trip Friday night with a 7:30 start against the Kelowna Rockets.
A great Shane Harper breakout pass to Zack Dailey led the 'Tips to a 2 on 1 break into the offensive zone. Dailey got hit by the Kamloops defenseman and the puck dropped right to Iwanski where a hard shot went just under the crossbar for an Everett 1-0 lead at 8:39. Just 53 seconds later a seemingly harmless Ellington shot was deflected in front of the net by Froese giving the Silvertips a 2-0 lead at 9:32. Kenton Dulle gave Kamloops some life with his 21st goal of the season at 12:56 to bring Kamloops within one goal. Everett led in shot 14-11 after 20 minutes of play.
Dailey tied his career high in goals with his ninth of the season on the power play to give Everett a 3-1 lead. The Silvertips captain fired a hard wrist shot from an odd angle at the right faceoff dot regaining Everetts two goal lead at 12:28. Kamloops outshot Everett in the second period 11-5.
Kamloops clawed their way back into the game as Scott Wasden made a great backhanded move to beat Heemskerk at 9:38 making the score 3-2 in Everetts favor. The Blazers tied the game at 12:35 on the power play as Shayne Weibe scored his 24th goal of the year. Shots after three periods of play favored Kamloops 30-27.
After a scoreless overtime Kamloops jumped out to a fast start in the shootout scoring their first two goals from C.J. Stretch and Dulle. Shane Harper gave the 'Tips life by scoring with Everett's second shot. A missed Jimmy Bubnick shot gave Everett the chance to tie, but Kellan Tochkin hit the post for Everett giving Kamloops the come from behind victory, 4-3.
